How Much Does It All Cost

The simple answer is £20.00 p/h
BUT
As we all know nothing in life is simple so I will try to clarify.

There is this misunderstanding that the world of classic cars involves expensive cars and unlimited budgets. I know this not to be the case. Like most hobbies owning a classic car is not limited to the rich an famous yet I hear and see daily prices being quoted that are outrageous. **see example below**

Anyway rant over.

My pricing is simple. (NOT) But I do hope it is fair.

I come and give you a quote for labour and an estimate for parts. (you are welcome to supply those parts if you wish.) You will get a report on what I want to do and WHY and you can choose to accept or not. If you choose not accept then that is all there is to it. I won't bother you and I won't bill you for the quote or the report. I only ask that you  keep my details in case you change your mind. If you accept then I get to work at the arranged time and place.

BUT (there is always a BUT)

I am human and I sometimes misjudge the size of a job. If the hours I spend are less then quoted I will adjust the bill accordingly.

If I go over on time I will present you with 2 bills. One the quoted time and one the actual time taken. YOU ARE NOT EXPECTED TO PAY THE HIGHER BILL. The choice is yours and has no bearing on any future work. (in other words I don't sulk).

I think my prices are more then fair but if you think a quote is too high tell me what you think the job is worth and why and we can see if we can come to an agreement.

**An example of outrageous pricing is a well known company charged £174.00 to "repair" an alternator. They replaced the bearings. The fault was not with the alternator but the external regulator. A BRAND NEW ALTERNATOR COSTS £118.00. For me to do the same "repair" it would have cost  £2.80 for 1x 6202 bearing and £ 2.80 for  1x6203 bearing and £50 labour. Total cost  £55.60.**

SPECIAL OFFERS.

I hate the thought of someone spending their hard earned money on a car of their dreams only for it to turn into a nightmare.

EVERYONE deserves to enjoy their vehicles but sometimes our budgets just don't allow for those much needed repairs. if you find yourself in this position don't lock your car away.

Call me I can help you.

I do not wish to embarrass anyone so I do not need to know you circumstances. I will trust you are being genuine and we can come to an arrangement where you buy the parts  (At the moment I cannot afford to carry the cost of parts) and once the job is complete you will get my bank details and you can pay the labour costs what you can afford when you can afford it. You will never hear from me again regarding payment so rest easy.

Lastly I do NOT cut corners EVER. Just because you are getting a special deal does NOT mean you are getting a cheaply done job. Your car will receive the same care and attention as every single other car I work on as well as the guarantees that go along with that work.

This section is dedicated to Mr Duncan Baker  without whose help I would never have made it this far and I consider this section as "paying it forward"
