As I previously stated I love old vehicles. What I DO NOT LOVE is how I am seeing so many bodged "repairs" When there is a fault in the wiring YOU FIND THE PROBLEM AND FIX IT. You don't run a new wire. This hapens more and more often overt the life of a car and it gets to the pont where it is hard to trace faults because nothing is where is should be, I CAN UNDO ALL OF THAT so when I am done the vehicle is as orginal as it can possibly be.
I NEVER use crimp connectors. ALL my connectors and joints are soldered.
(If you look at the Gallery you will see why I choose to do this.)
When my work is completed EVERYTHING is checked and checked again.
I am fastidious and somewhat pedantic. I can be annoying at times especially when it comes to getting feedback on how you want something done etc This approach work in mos cases as clients want to know each step of that way what I am doing and why (it is their vehicle) and some would probably like to murder me, but they cant as I am the only one who can put the car back together. For those clients who wish to be left alone they just need to tell me to use my own judgment and bugger off until the job is complete.
I treat each of these cars as if it was my own I spend far more time then I then I charge for. I fix things (with permission) I was not asked to fix just so the car is right. I will never be able to drive a classic of my own (see the awful businessman part of my introduction) but by getting each vehicle as perfect as I can, then at least a tiny bit of me stays with them and that is fine by me.
AT THE END OF THE DAY HERE IS WHERE I CAN START TALKING ABOUT GAURANTEES
If I have done my job correctly and as long as no-one else has a go at some point the work I do should NEVER have to be re-done. So if I do your wiring you PAY ONCE. Electrical components wear out and break so they carry a one year labour guarantee and the parts fitted are subject to manufacturers guarantees.
Customisation And Retrofitting
Whilst restoration and preservation of these old vehicles is important so is the owner having a vehicle they enjoy. This often means customisations are required.
Vehicle customisation has been around as long as cars themselves and
it is a joy to be part of someone's vision becoming a reality.
Have Something in mind? You name it I can do it. Have you done something that did not work out I can fix that for you. If there is anything I cannot do I will tell you and ask you to give me a day or two. I NEVER EVER GUESS. The next time you see me I will be able to do what you require or I will tell you so. I would prefer to walk away then make a mess.
As an added extra,
I use 3d printing a LOT in my work as it is an easy reliable way to make custom parts that would be overly expensive to buy or manufacture or that just do not exist. I also have all the usual workshop equipment at home to do most type of work plus a laser engraver and a small cnc router.( I am thinking of buying a lathe but will see if there is a need)
